History of Neely, Brien & Wilson
The law firm of Neely, Brien & Wilson has been serving the eight counties of the Jackson Purchase region of Western Kentucky for the past 100 years. The firm engages in the general practice of law, and has attorneys who are well trained and highly experienced in all legal fields.
The law firm was started by Flavious B. Martin in 1907 on the Court Square in Mayfield, Kentucky. In 1947 Sam B. Neely, Sr. joined Mr. Martin as a partner and the firm became Martin & Neely. Mr. Neely continued a long and distinguished career until his retirement in 1999. In 1952, L.M.Tipton Reed formed a partnership with the firm, which then became known as Martin, Neely & Reed. After Mr. Martin’s death, the firm became Neely & Reed. In 1963 Mr. Neely and Mr. Reed purchased the house located at 238 North 7th Street in Mayfield, which is the current location of the law firm.
For a short period of time in the 1960’s, Carroll Hubbard, Jr. was a member of the firm and it was known as Neely, Reed & Hubbard. In July 1969, James B. Brien, Jr. and L.M.T. Reed, Jr. joined the firm and it soon became known as Neely, Reed & Brien. In 1976 the Reeds formed their own law practice, and the firm then became Neely & Brien.
Royce Buck joined the law firm in 1978 and in a short time it became known as Neely, Brien & Buck. Mr. Buck soon became District Court Judge of Graves County (a position he held for 17 years), and left the firm. S. Boyd Neely, Jr. joined the firm in 1979 and became the second generation Neely to become part of the law firm of Neely & Brien.
Bryan E. Wilson joined the firm in 2001. He was named as a partner on January 1, 2006, and the firm became Neely, Brien & Wilson.
Ryan L. Toombs joined the firm in 2009.
S. Boyd Neely, III joined the
firm in 2011 and became the third generation Neely to become part of the law firm Neely, Brien and Wilson.
The current partners of Neely, Brien & Wilson are James B. Brien, Jr., S. Boyd Neely, Jr. and Bryan Eugene Wilson. Neely, Brien & Wilson continues to serve Western Kentucky with its experience in all areas of the law.
